Q. Why are Rolling Shades
installed on the outside of the
windows?
A. Rolling Shades are
installed on the outside of
windows so that they can stop
the sun’s heat and glare before
it reaches the glass.   Unlike
interior window treatments
that offer only shade and
privacy, Exterior Rolling Shades
are a proactive defense against
solar heat gain as well.  Yet, we do
understand that there are circumstances when Interior Shades are preferred or needed
to accomplish the customer's goal.  Therefore, we do offer Interior Shades as well.

Q.  What is the screen made of?
A. We prefer to use two specific fabrics for our Rolling Shades. SunTex 80® and Suntex 90®  is made by Phifer.  These materials are a unique PVC coated fiberglass fabric that are designed to absorb and reflect the sun’s heat and glare.  It is a polyester coated vinyl material that is available in 20% openness. Both fabrics are very durable, provide excellent protection from the sun’s heat and glare and look great.  However, we do offer a full line of fabric styles to meet your every needs.

Q. How large can the Rolling Screens be made?
A. The maximum dimensions for Enviro Shades are up to 20' wide and 20’ drop.

Q. Can you see through the screen?
A. Yes.  This is what makes Rolling Shades so practical and appealing.   Because the screen material is available in a variety of weave densities, you can block the heat and glare of the sun’s rays, without sacrificing your view.   During the day, Rolling Shades offer excellent privacy, and at night, others looking in can only see silhouettes.

Q. What color of screen material is easiest to see through?
A. Dark colors absorb most of the sun’s light and glare, and light colors reflect light back to your eyes, therefore, dark colors are easiest to see through and work the best.

Q. Can Rolling Shades be used on porches?
A. Yes.  Rolling Shades are the ideal solution for creating shade, privacy and insect protection for patios, gazebos, and decks.

Q. How do Rolling Shades protect me from insects?
A. Our unique edge retention system uses a zipper system that keeps the screen in a track and prevents insects from entering your home or patio while the screen is in the down position.

Q. What happens if Rolling Shades are left in the down position in high winds?
A. We do not recommend that you operate your Rolling Shades in windy conditions.   Rolling Shades are intended to provide solar protection, not wind protection.  However, our unique screen edge retention system allows you to keep your screens down in light winds without blowing out of the guide rails.  If you live in a windy area, we recommend that you purchase a wind sensor that will automatically retract your Rolling Shade when it gets windy.
